On the 14th of May, 2024, the Australian Supreme Court handed down a sentence of nearly six years in prison to David McBride for the act of exposing war crimes committed by the Australian Defense Force. Yes, you read that correctly—McBride's sole offense was leaking what would later be known as the 'Afghan Files' to the press. The recent banning of TikTok and brutality against protesting university students in the USA are just two examples of many. It is time for Muslims to recognize that the liberal values espoused by these nations are hollow slogans used as political tools to exert dominance over others.
