War Criminals Free, Whistleblower Jailed, Western Values Exposed!

Description

On the 14th of May, 2024, the Australian Supreme Court handed down a sentence of nearly six years in prison to David McBride for the act of exposing war crimes committed by the Australian Defense Force. Yes, you read that correctly—McBride's sole offense was leaking what would later be known as the 'Afghan Files' to the press. These documents revealed the ADF's involvement in the killings of prisoners and civilians in Afghanistan between 2007 and 2013. David McBride, a graduate of Oxford University with a law degree, began his career with a stint in the British army before joining the ADF. As a legal officer, he completed two tours of duty in Afghanistan, including one with the special forces in 2013. It was during this time that he became increasingly troubled by the actions of his superiors, feeling that they had crossed a moral boundary. McBride first attempted to address his concerns through internal channels, but when these efforts proved futile, he turned to the police, the defense minister, and ultimately the press. A subsequent inquiry confirmed the validity of his claims, revealing credible evidence of the unlawful killing of 39 Afghans during the conflict, including a six-year-old boy allegedly shot while sleeping in 2013. Australia now joins the ranks of other nations implicated in similar war crimes, such as the Abu Ghraib scandal, the Bagram Prison abuse, and the Al-Haditha massacre. Like Australia, these countries have sought to silence whistleblowers who dared to expose their crimes. Julian Assange of WikiLeaks and Edward Snowden, a former NSA contractor, are among the high-profile cases of individuals targeted for revealing uncomfortable truths. These nations, while vocal about human rights and freedom of expression, stand exposed for their hypocrisy. Not only have they committed atrocities abroad, but they have also employed heavy-handed tactics to suppress dissent and control the narrative. The recent banning of TikTok and brutality against protesting university students in the USA are just two examples of many. It is time for Muslims to recognize that the liberal values espoused by these nations are hollow slogans used as political tools to exert dominance over others.

Khilafah & Imamah: A Path to Shia-Sunni Unity?

In the face of the ongoing US-Israel war on Iran — marked by direct strikes, proxy conflicts, and attempts to reshape the Muslim world — Sunni–Shia unity has become not just a theological ideal, but a strategic necessity for the survival and dignity of the Ummah. We sat down with Allama Amin Shaheedi only to learn that the historical differences over خلافت and امامت are no more valid today. Muslims must rise above these divides when external powers are actively fueling sectarian flames to weaken Iran and fragment the region. Is Pakistan's mediatory role enough or should the conflict serve as a stepping stone towards larger Muslim unity? In this episode, we engage in a deep, respectful, and timely conversation that explores the historical, theological, and emotional roots of one of Islam’s most sensitive issues — while confronting today’s geopolitical realities head-on.

From World Order to Khilafah: 28 Rajab’s Echo

28 Rajab marks a turning point in Muslim history. It was the day the Khilafah was formally abolished, reshaping the political and moral order of the Muslim world. In this episode of Mindsieves, Dr. Abdul Baseer Qazi is joined by Abu Yusuf to reflect on how that loss continues to echo through today’s global system and why the so called world order remains rooted in power, coercion, and selective justice. From the collapse of Islamic political authority to the rise of imperial dominance, the conversation connects history with present realities. It asks difficult questions about sovereignty, identity, and whether true justice can exist under a system built on empire rather than accountability to Allah. This discussion is not just about remembering the past. It is about understanding the present and questioning the future. What replaced the Khilafah, and at what cost? And what would it truly mean to restore a system grounded in justice rather than domination? #Mindsieves #28Rajab #Khilafah #IslamicHistory #WorldOrder #Ummah #DrAbdulBaseerQazi #AbuYusuf #Justice #IslamAndPolitics
